Bringing Prebiotics to the Table

A good gut leads to good health. 1 in 2 consumers worldwide say they usually choose foods that improve their digestion. And when speaking of digestive health, prebiotics are known to offer great benefits. BENEO’s chicory root fibres are such prebiotics and come with an abundance of scientific research to prove their prebiotic health claim. In fact, they are the only clinically proven plant-based prebiotics. Orafti® Inulin and Oligofructose support a healthy gut microbiota and selectively promote the growth of beneficial microorganisms, such as Bifidobacteria, in the gut.

When asking consumers about the role of digestive health, they see benefits in many parts of their lives: starting with overall health and even reaching into areas such as immunity and mental wellbeing. Therefore, it becomes clear that now is the time to emphasise the link between prebiotic fibres and the gut microbiome. The task at hand is to communicate more easily and freely to consumers about the importance of prebiotic fibres.

Prebiotics improve our feeling of inner wellbeing

Supply security and sustainability go hand in hand

While increasing global capacity for our prebiotic chicory root fibres by 30%, we reduced specific energy consumption by 35% at the same time. This is thanks to an expansion of our production plant in Chile.

We upgraded existing processing equipment and invested in new technology, which reduces the energy required and ensures energy is used efficiently. This investment into new technology also allows for improved process continuation, as it means equipment can be cleaned without interruption of the overall process, which in turn results in further significant energy savings.

This all allows us to become an even more reliable partner in the supply of chicory root fibres. Firstly we can offer a greater capacity. Secondly we are working on more and more research that proves the benefits of these prebiotic fibres.
