In May 2021 EFSA concluded that the food additive use of titanium dioxide (E171) is no longer considered safe based on new reliable scientific data. Starting August 2022 a full ban applies in Europe. Other regions and manufacturers are preparing for the future. Consumers are more educated than ever about ingredients. E-numbers or food dyes do not have the cleanest of reputations. All the more reason to look at Rice Starch as a clean label solution. Market research shows rice is considered a familiar and natural product.
