Growing trend towards mindful snacking
While snacks are becoming the ‘new meal’ there is a worldwide trend to combine healthier snacking and indulgence. Although taste is important, consumers are increasingly aware and mindful of what they eat.
One in five consumers is on the look-out for snacks boasting health benefits.
With BENEO’s functional ingredients, you can meet the expectations on taste and healthfulness of all snack lovers by optimising the recipe with the technical and physiological qualities of fibres, carbohydrates, rice starches and textured wheat protein.Read more about mindful snacking and register for our free webinar
Sponsorship cooperation with triathlon athletes ¬– powered by Palatinose™
We are glad to announce a new sponsorship cooperation with two German endurance athletes – professional triathlete Matthias Knossalla and aspiring professional triathlete Marc Rink. Both are competing in extremely tough triathlon races worldwide including many Ironman-distance races. BENEO's unique functional carbohydrate Palatinose™ will support them during training and competition.
Palatinose™ (isomaltulose) is an ideal carbohydrate for endurance sports because it provides energy supply over a longer time period and helps to improve fat oxidation during physical activity.

Chocolate chip cookies with improved nutritional profile: More fibre – less sugar
Recent technical trials with 30 % sugar-reduced chocolate chip cookies containing BENEO’s chicory fibres showed that taste, sweetness and crunchiness of the cookies were similar to the full sugar control version. Due to the inclusion of the natural prebiotic fibres the cookies also support a healthy digestive system and a balanced blood glucose response.
BENEO’s solutions for sugar reduction make foods healthier, without consumers having to change their eating habits or compromising on taste and texture.
World Digestive Health Day – growing importance of the gut microbiome
This year’s World Digestive Health Day on 29 May 2017 is encouraging people to become more aware of therapies available for Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD). There are various therapies currently being developed to treat IBD, including dietary supplements to improve the microbiome in the gut.
Consumers are becoming more familiar with the gut microbiome and its influence on the body and they are increasingly interested in food and ingredients that support a healthy digestive system. A particular support towards a healthy microbiota is possible by ensuring that the daily diet includes prebiotic fibres, such as BENEO’s chicory root fibre inulin and oligofructose.
“A Better Day with BENEO”: Healthier Snacks at IFT 2017
At the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) Food Expo in Las Vegas from June 25 – 28 BENEO will focus on solutions for healthier snacks. Research shows that snacks have taken center stage in consumers’ preferences.
Many U.S. consumers today are tending to skip meals completely in favour of snacking all day. With a versatile portfolio of ingredients from nature, BENEO helps to create healthier snacks that respond to current consumer trends. These include sugar replacement, a healthy weight, the microbiome (digestive health) as well as improved energy supply.
